Wondering if the famous Crème Brûlée Croissant at Gaston’s Tavern is worth the hype? Here’s my honest review after finally trying this popular Magic Kingdom snack.

I’d been wanting to try the famous Crème Brûlée Croissant at Gaston’s Tavern for years.

Every trip, I’d see photos of it online, add it to my mental Disney snack list, and tell myself, “This is the trip I’m finally going to get it.”

…but somehow, it never happened.

As a mom, my Disney days tend to revolve around other people. (Moms, I’m sure you know what I mean!)

Between making Lightning Lanes, keeping little ones happy (P.S. little ones who miss their usual naptime), and fitting in all the must-do attractions, for some reason, there never seemed to be a good time for me to stop and grab the snack I’d been thinking about for months.

Then I took a solo trip.

For the first time in SO long, I was following my own itinerary. If I wanted to rope drop a ride, I could. If I wanted to sit on a bench with a coffee for twenty minutes, nobody was going to stop me. And if I wanted to walk straight to Gaston’s Tavern for a giant pastry I’d been dreaming about, well, I could do that too.

So that’s exactly what I did. (Psst: this is exactly why I recommend a solo trip… no matter which phase of life you’re in.)

What Is the Crème Brûlée Croissant?

Found at Gaston’s Tavern in Fantasyland, the Crème Brûlée Croissant is exactly what it sounds like: a flaky croissant filled with vanilla custard and topped with a caramelized sugar coating inspired by a classic crème brûlée.

It’s become one of the most talked-about snacks in Magic Kingdom, with Disney fans regularly debating whether it’s worth the hype. Naturally, I had to find out for myself.

My Honest Review

First and foremost, let’s talk about the size of this snack. (Hint: I was pleasantly surprised).

From photos online, I expected it to be smaller and much messier to eat. Instead, it was a generously sized pastry that felt substantial enough to share had I been with my family (good thing I wasn’t, because my hunder was REALLY talking that day!).

The croissant itself was buttery and flaky without completely falling apart in my hands. Considering the amount of filling inside, I was expecting a disaster. Thankfully, it was much easier to eat than I anticipated.

…and if you want to know about the filling: it was absolutely delicious!

The vanilla custard was rich and creamy without being overly sweet, and the caramelized sugar on top added just the right amount of crunch. Together, it really did capture the flavour of a classic crème brûlée while still feeling like a pastry.

Most importantly, it felt worth ordering.

There are plenty of Disney snacks that look better on social media than they taste in real life. This wasn’t one of them! I genuinely enjoyed every bite.

Is the Crème Brûlée Croissant Worth It?

In my opinion, absolutely.

If you’re looking for a unique Magic Kingdom snack that’s filling, easy to share, and actually lives up to the hype, then the Crème Brûlée Croissant is worth adding to your snack list.

Would I go out of my way to get it again? Yes. Even when I’m with my family? Absolutely. (I’m working on self-care and making sure to not lose myself in parenthood!)
