Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (often shortened to MNSSHP) is a specially ticketed Halloween event that takes place inside Magic Kingdom. If you’ve never heard of it before, don’t worry, you’re not alone!

Even though I’ve been visiting Walt Disney World since I was 12 years old, I didn’t attend my very first MNSSHP until I was 35… and let me tell you, as soon as I attended it, I instantly wished I had gone sooner.
This party is truly unlike a regular park day: from trick-or-treating through Magic Kingdom and special Halloween entertainment, to the rare chance for adults to wear costumes in the park… there’s just so much that makes MNSSHP a unique Disney experience.
If you’re new to planning Disney trips (or just curious about what exactly this party is all about), I’ve got you covered. Let’s break it all down together so you know exactly what to expect.
What to Expect at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
A Separate Ticketed Event
First things first: MNSSHP is not included with your regular Magic Kingdom admission. It’s a separate ticketed event that takes over the park on select nights in August through October.
- Party guests with a MNSSHP ticket can enter Magic Kingdom starting at 4 p.m., even though the party doesn’t officially kick off until 7 p.m.
- The event runs until midnight, giving you plenty of time to enjoy Halloween-exclusive shows, trick-or-treating, and more.
What Time Do You Have to Leave Magic Kingdom for Halloween Party?
If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom on a day when MNSSHP is scheduled, but you don’t have a party ticket, you’ll need to leave the park by 6 p.m., so if you’re planning a park day + MNSSHP combo, keep this timing in mind.

Costumes for All Ages
One of the best parts about the party? Everyone can dress up!
- During normal park hours, costumes are only allowed for guests 13 and under.
- At MNSSHP, costumes are encouraged for guests of all ages (as long as they follow Disney’s costume guidelines).
- Even though the party starts at 7 p.m., you’re welcome to wear your costume starting at 4 p.m., when party guests are first allowed inside.
Trick-or-Treating (and Allergy-Friendly Options!)
You’ll receive a special treat bag when you enter the party: perfect for filling up at the numerous candy stations around the park.
Guests with food allergies can request a teal bag from Cast Members. Instead of candy, you’ll receive tokens at treat stations that can be exchanged later for allergy-friendly goodies.

Shorter Wait Times for Attractions
Yes, MNSSHP is a ticketed event that often sells out: but there’s a big perk: limited entry.
With fewer guests in the park, wait times for rides and attractions are typically much shorter than during the day. That means you can enjoy popular rides like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or Haunted Mansion with way less waiting.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the perfect mix of festive, spooky (but not too scary!), and magical. You’ll find exclusive entertainment like the Boo-to-You Parade, special fireworks, and character meet-and-greets you won’t see during normal park hours. Add in candy, costumes, and low waits for rides: and you’ve got one of the most beloved seasonal events at Walt Disney World.
