One of my favourite ways to complete a Disney outfit is with a freshly manicured set of nails. While I’ll always adore a classic Mickey-themed mani, sometimes I like to get creative and ask my nail tech for something that ties into the Disney experiences I’m most excited about.
For one of my recent trips, I had the chance to experience Moana’s Journey of Water at EPCOT for the very first time. Since Moana is one of my favourite Disney films, I decided that the perfect way to celebrate this new experience was with a themed manicure. And so, my Moana-inspired nails came to life!
What I Asked For
When it comes to Disney-inspired nails, I always recommend choosing a style that feels magical but also wearable for your whole trip. For my Moana nails, I went with cat-eye nails in ocean blues for most of my fingers. The shimmering depth of the cat-eye effect looked just like rippling waves, which I thought was perfect for representing the ocean that plays such a big role in Moana’s story.
On each of my ring fingers, I switched things up to spotlight the Heart of Te Fiti. I asked for a soft, light green base and then had my nail tech paint a dark green swirl in the centre of each nail. The design mimicked the Heart of Te Fiti perfectly, while still keeping the manicure subtle and elegant.
Why I Love Themed Disney Nails
For me, a Disney manicure is more than just polish: it’s part of the whole park day experience.
It ties my outfits together, makes photos extra fun, and adds a little extra touch of magic. Moana-inspired nails were the perfect choice for visiting Journey of Water because every time I looked down, I was reminded of the attraction I had been waiting so long to see.
And trust me, details like these are not lost at Disney. Cast Members, fellow guests, and even PhotoPass photographers often notice and compliment themed nails. It’s such a fun conversation starter!
